Everything I Need-- One whole year of Mumsyhood

Somebody pinch me.  Am I dreaming?

I have a beautiful one-year-old who never fails to make me happy and I am thankful in every way.  Nadine is truly the biggest blessing and I can't believe it has been a year.  One year.  Time flew so fast and I can't help but wonder if I've done enough and if I've done a good job raising her. One thing's for sure, I tried my very best.

At one year, Nadine weighs 21 pounds 6oz, and 29 inches.  She is still steady at the 50th percentile except her head circumference which is already at 18.5 inches.  She walks like a pro now and would always attempt to run.  What she needs to practice in that department is looking at where she is going because that's usually the reason why why she trips.  She is also eating some table food now and loves different kinds of fruits.  She loves feeding herself so I let her do it 90% of the time.  We are slowly transitioning to fresh cow's milk from formula as well and so far so good.  She is slowly getting used to it and is drinking more cow's milk and less formula every day.

Her personality is definitely showing too.  We find her to be a very strong willed child.  She is a go-getter and is very sociable.  She loves being around people, especially children.  We also found that she loves dogs and other animals a lot and is very gentle with them.

I let her watch some TV sometimes and she still loves watching Wonderpets, Yo Gabba Gabba, Playhouse Disney and Backyardigans.  She loves to dance every time she hears music (or when I sing to her) and is also in to imitating what we DO and SAY which means Daddy Marc and I should be on our very best behavior at all times too!

We still haven't taken Nadine to get her very first haircut.  Her bangs need some serious trimming now because it goes all the way down to her chin.  The good thing about that is that I can tie it into pigtails!  She is scheduled for her first haircut sometime this month.

Nadine turning one also means that I have all the contents I need for my ultimate baby book!  For those who don't know or are new here, this is the reason why I started this blog.  I wrote this a while back:

"I've been trying my very best to write about and possibly capture on photo & video, all of Nadine's milestones and everything she did and will be doing during her first year. The truth is, I have committed to keep this blog active for one full year. Daddy Marc and I will be having all the contents of this blog including comments, printed and bound into a book. This book will be her ultimate baby book. By next year, we will have this blog professionally printed as a hard bound book and digitally saved. It will be kept for years and will be given to Nadine when she is older. We don't know when yet... 16th Birthday? 21st Birthday? Her Wedding? The birth of her son or daughter? Who knows!? Time will tell when it is the best time for her to have it. I am sure this will be something she will love and she will be sharing the book to her children and children's children..."

I admit that it wasn't easy keeping this blog up and updated DAILY for a whole year, but I must say that it was all worth every effort.

I also want to thank everyone who kept coming back to read what I write, especially those who never failed to comment on my posts.  You guys really made my 1 year commitment to blog daily quite manageable and I also enjoyed getting to know you all.

Initially, I wanted to shut down this blog after the one year is over but I will leave it open for a while as I decide what to do with it.

Cheers to one whole year of MUMSYHOOD!

1 Year Old Today!

We flew back from the capital 3 days ago and we were all quite busy finalizing everything for Nadine's first birthday.  Since today's a Friday and we wanted to celebrate Nadine's birthday on her actual birthday, we decided to hold the party over dinner so that family and friends could make it after work hours.  The party was a lot of fun and was very colorful in every way.  We had clowns, balloons and her birthday theme was Dr. Seuss! Daddy Marc and I surely made the right decision of flying and vacationing here six weeks to celebrate Nadine's first birthday instead of celebrating it back home.  Sure we were half way across the world from home, but the trip was well worth it.

My sister-in-laws, Mama Tin, Auntie Honeygirl and Auntie Lean, took care of everything.  I am truly blessed to have them around to help out and give Nadine an awesome first birthday party!

The centerpieces were made by Auntie Honeygirl with everyone's help.  She made the whole thing while paying great attention to detail... from the styrofoam inside the base all the way up to the balloons she inflated herself!

She also made the other decors: Thing 1 and Thing 2, the hats, etc. using illustration boards and felt paper!

Auntie Lean on the other hand, took care of the beautiful Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat cake, cupcakes and signage.

My cousin-in-law, Auntie Margo, and other nieces and nephews helped out by putting the balloons and other decors in place a few hours before the party.

We couldn't be happier.  We felt the love everyone has for this little girl...

We arrived early so we could take photos of Nadine before the guests arrived.  Nadine was in awe with the drop balloons and played with them for an hour straight!

Of course, Happy baby makes a very happy mumsy!

And a happy mumsy makes a happy family!

Here's Nadine with her very first guest, Cousin Rice, who is only 2 weeks older than she is.  Cousin Rice also loved playing with the drop balloons!

Nadine is rocking her birthday dress! It was given to her by Auntie Tess.

The kids really enjoyed having a balloon twister.

This is one of my favorite photos of the evening.  Nadine and Cousin Migo with their puppy balloons!

And here are MOOOOOOORE photos taken this evening...

What a great FIRST birthday party it turned out to be. Thanks everyone!
